OUR FOUNDERS

re:set strategies was founded by Gary Bowerman, an experienced travel industry consultant and analyst, and Yereth Jansen, a Dutch entrepreneur and travel industry consultant.

Gary Bowerman is a travel and consumer trends analyst and consultant specialising in China and South East Asia. He is the Asia Travel Analyst for Phocuswright, and an Asia Consumer Trends Analyst for Mintel. He has worked on consulting projects for clients including the American Society of Travel Agents, The Peninsula Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, Worldline, Citi and UPS.

He is a regular tourism conference speaker and panellist, including events in Bangkok, Beijing, Shanghai, Macau, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Vientiane, London and Madrid. Recent presentations include UNWTO, Global Tourism Economy Forum, Indonesia Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy, Institute of Tourism, Worldline and the OneASEAN Forum.

Gary is frequently invited by global media, such as CNN, BBC, CNA, Al Jazeera, Time, Bloomberg, SCMP and China Daily, to comment on Chinese and Asian travel issues. He co-hosts The South East Asia Travel Show and founded Asia Travel Re:Set. He is a former Editor of Shanghai Business Review and a CNN Traveller columnist. In 2014, Gary authored the book, The New Chinese Traveler: Business Opportunities from the Chinese Travel Revolution (Palgrave).

Gary lived and worked in Shanghai from 2004-2010, and has been based in Kuala Lumpur since 2010.

Yereth Jansen is a renowned public speaker on tourism, branding, and localisation for both destinations and businesses. He has been a marketing consultant with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) since 2017. Fluent in Chinese and based in China for 14 years, he has developed international tourism strategies for multiple provinces across the country.

In addition to his tourism focus, Yereth serves as the CEO China at Darling Advertising + Design, where he specialises in strategic and creative branding for Chinese enterprises. His role at Darling dovetails with his position as Deputy Secretary-General of the International Communication Committee at the China Advertising Association, enhancing China’s global advertising presence.

Yereth is also the China Director at Alliance Experts, where he crafts strategic cross-border partnerships for clients all over the world. His career is a strategic blend of tourism expertise, branding acumen, and international business development underpinned by his commitment to results-driven collaborations and integrity.

Yereth has lived and worked in China since 2009, and is based in Shanghai.
